Carole Robins – Paintings in Watercolour, Oil & Acrylic
“I was born in London, but have spent most of my life, living in Surrey. I am married with two grown up sons. Most of my working life was spent in Finance, with a brief spell as a Police Officer and some years in Childcare. I can’t honestly say, when I first became interested in painting, although as a child, I loved to draw.
I have quite a varied portfolio, although I’m not a flowers and fruit bowl type of girl but I like to think I specialise in trains. I endeavour to portray the atmosphere, speed and motion, in my varied train paintings, from steam, to old slammers and to the most modern trains, that currently frequent our stations. I also have a number of trains, from across the world, in my portfolio.
I don’t really remember steam trains, from my childhood but it was common for the family, to travel to holiday destinations by train, and to visit relatives. I still enjoy train journeys, usually via South West Trains, as a means to going to sporting venues and the theatre. I have also had the pleasure of travelling on the Watercress line, The Dorset Coast Express, West Somerset Railway and the Lymington Slammer, on the penultimate day of her working life!
Some of my paintings have appeared on calendars and greeting cards. Some of my original paintings and prints purchased by buyers from US are displayed in UK, US, Canada and Australia.
I am self taught and have undertaken a number of commissions on various subjects.
Watercolour is now my preferred medium but I also enjoy using oils and acrylics.”
